Need advice with business strategy essay?
I am doing an essay on strategy frameworks and I need to pick a company to analyse, the question is as follows:
Describe the boundaries of a firm of your choice. Identify the strategic position and source of competitive advantage achieved by this firm. Analyse the key competitive forces at work in the firm’s industry and how the firm actively shapes or could shape these forces to its advantage. Discuss the ability of this firm to sustain its competitive advantage relative to competitors in the market place.
I need to find a company that no one else will be doing that will have a lot of information, news acticles, market research etc done on it
Would appreciate any suggestions

What about picking Yahoo … i don’t think noone will do it in your class..
alot of other options as well. any other internet company, food, or retail…

Depending on where you live – Waffle House might be a good choice. They have been around for 50+ years. There is a lot of info on them and if you live in the south you can easily interview managers and get input. If not McDonalds is an easy choice – most people don’t understand the industry and that most of the profit comes from the drinks, not food. Coke is a key factor in McDonalds, especially with the introduction of the Cafe’s.
